ACDC: The Complete Home Grower's Guide
ACDC is a highly sought-after Sativa-dominant Hybrid (approx. 70% Sativa / 30% Indica) celebrated for its exceptional therapeutic potential. It typically contains massive CBD levels ranging from 15% – 24% with minimal THC levels between 0.5% – 1.5%, often boasting a highly desirable 20:1 CBD:THC ratio. A specific phenotype of Cannatonic (MK Ultra x G13 Haze), ACDC features a complex aromatic profile of earth, wood, and pine, complimented by delicate hints of lemongrass and cherry.
Indoors, it has a growth expectation of reaching a Medium height (approx. 4 feet indoors; up to 5-6 feet outdoors). Cultivators should note that ACDC has a Low to Moderate nutrient demand; it is highly sensitive to overfeeding and prone to nutrient burn.
Phase 1: The Seedling Phase (Duration: 2 to 3 Weeks)
Once you have decided to grow ACDC in either soil or a hydroponic setup, monitoring pH levels is critical. The optimal pH range for this cultivar is 6.0 – 6.8 in soil, and 5.5 – 6.5 hydroponically.
During this infancy stage, ACDC needs to maintain a target temperature of 75°F – 80°F (24°C – 27°C). Once the seed germinates, it will sprout its first set of round leaves (the cotyledons). If you are able to maintain the target humidity of 65% – 70%, the iconic serrated leaves will just begin to show themselves. During this critical Phase 1 of the growing cycle, the plant is establishing a strong root system. Beginners often overwater these fragile seedlings—do not drown your seeds. Your seedling ACDC needs gentle care and a recommended light cycle of 18/6 or 20/4 for this first cycle, which should last 2 to 3 weeks.
Phase 2: The Vegetative Phase (Duration: 4 Weeks)
As the plant shifts its focus to size and structural integrity, its environmental needs will also change.
- Environment: Maintain a target temperature of 70°F – 80°F (21°C – 27°C) and drop the relative humidity to 40% – 55%.
- Lighting: Keep a consistent 18/6 light cycle throughout the 4-week vegetative schedule to help the plant build its canopy without triggering premature flowering.
- Canopy Management: ACDC has a naturally "viny" and thin-stemmed growth profile. Because of its tendency to "stretch," its training suitability is considered High. It responds exceptionally well to Low-Stress Training (LST), Topping, and the Screen of Green (ScrOG) method to manage height and encourage lateral growth.
- Nutrients: Keep feedings light to moderate, as this strain will easily suffer from nutrient burn if pushed too hard.
Phase 3: The Flowering Phase (Duration: 9 to 10 Weeks)
To trigger the flowering stage, change your light cycle to 12 hours on and 12 hours off (12/12).
- Environment: Control your temperatures between 68°F – 75°F (20°C – 24°C). It is absolutely critical to drop your humidity to 30% – 40% during this stage to prevent mold in the dense buds.
- Support: Because ACDC is thin-stemmed, it will absolutely require structural support (such as bamboo stakes or a trellis net) as the buds become heavy during late flower.
- Harvest Timing: Patience is vital for the best medicinal outcome. You will know your ACDC is ready for harvest when the white pistils turn amber/brown and the trichomes look milky or cloudy. Harvesting too early can significantly reduce the potency and final weight, which typically yields 1–3 oz per sq ft indoors.
